HEXACO Personality Inventory

After reading an article entitled Most Personality Quizzes Are Junk Science. I Found One That Isn’t, I came across a previously-unknown-to-me personality inventory that is based on the Big Five system, but adds another element, Honesty-Humility, that is apparently rather uncorrelated with the other traits. The HEXACO system doesn't seek to place people into either side of several binary buckets, but instead provides scores relative to the distribution of tested participants. One can then read about correlations that have been found between their scores and various other traits/habits.

The test can be taken here.

Below are my and my girlfriend's results, along with descriptions of each of the categories/subcategories. I ask that anyone who takes the test post the raw numerical table of scores as well, as I'm interested in compiling a distribution myself.

I offered an earlier post about the Big Five; here it is once again.

Some of the psychological/psychometric ideas behind the Big Five, however, are the kind that will prevent it from "catching on" the way the MBTI has.
For example, you would have to be in the top or bottom two percent of the entire population before you are considered to have a significant trait
on one of the Big Five/CANOE/OCEAN dimensions (C for Conscientiousness, A for Agreeableness, N for Neuroticism or emotionality, O for Openness

And if that isn't enough, then there are a couple of guys from Canada who argue that the Big Five should actually be the Big Six, with Humility/Honesty as an additional dimension of personality (hint: Donald Trump would score very low on this particular trait).

The Big Five may have a more solid evidence base than any other model of personality traits, but I doubt that that will earn it much popularity any time soon.

The HEXACO test is the direct measurement of the Big Six dimensions that those two guys from Canada were talking about; the six dimensions are Honesty/Humility, Emotionality (corresponding to Big Five Neuroticism), eXtraversion, Agreeableness, Conscientiousness, and Openness to new experiences--H-E-X-A-C-O. I'll provide my own results from the quiz in a later post.

I feel like it's exaggerating the scores for Patience, Diligence, and Perfectionism.

But not Forgivingness. Definitely not. That sucker is admittedly very low.

So mine won't reproduce itself here, but it basically says I'm an evil slacker with abominable social skills. I test out like this on the big 5 too.

My lowest score was on Forgiveness, and my highest...well, it was Perfectionism, strangely. Fuck these tests.
